IHS Global: Beaumont-Port Arthur ranked No.1 least expensive metro

IHS Global Insight released a 'Business Cost Index' report Wednesday, July 16, ranking the costliest and most affordable cities for business owners. 

Honolulu, Fairfield County, CT, New York City, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco are the most expensive areas in the country in which to do business, according to the IHS Global Insight Business Cost Index from IHS Inc. Beaumont-Port Arthur, TX ranked No.1 least expensive metro area for business costs, followed closely by Lake Charles and Monroe, LA.

LU hosts gO WEST Academy

The Lamar University College of Education and Human Development hosted the gO With Engineering, Science, and Technology Academy (gO WEST) from July 7-11. The free one-week residential camp serves incoming ninth-grade students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Twenty-four students participated in this year’s camp.

“The camp is designed to address the lack of STEM professionals to meet our national needs,” said Otilia Urbina, executive director.
