Port of Beaumont's longtime director of corporate affairs retires at 62

John Roby, 62, who has worked at the Port of Beaumont for 36 years — most recently as director of corporate affairs — officially announced his retirement at a meeting of the Port Board of Commissioners on Monday, Jan. 25. Port of Beaumont Director Chris Fisher and commissioners recognized Roby for his dedicated service to the port.

U.S. Army trains at Port of Beaumont for rapid response

More than 200 soldiers from the 710th Brigade Support Battalion (710 BSB) convoyed from Fort Polk in Louisiana to the Port of Beaumont, showcasing the Army’s ability and necessary mobility to provide ground troop sustainment support for hurricane relief by loading military equipment on the Cape Trinity, a ship with the potential to rapidly move personnel and equipment to any area affected by a hurricane.

The battalion arrived in Beaumont on Monday, Feb. 1, and departed the Port of Beaumont on Friday, Feb. 5.
