Downtown Fitness offers business professionals place to work out

With a new fitness center right down the street from many businesses, the courthouse, police station, among other facilities, it’s hard to come up with a good excuse not to work out. And while there’s usually a rush to get out of downtown Beaumont when 5 o’clock rolls around, there is now motivation to stick around.

“Everyone wants to work out … but everyone always complains about not having the time for it,” said Jason Stevens, GM of Downtown Fitness. “We created an atmosphere to give them the time.”

Port Arthur downtown study garners state planning award

The Port Arthur Downtown Revitalization Plan has won the Long Range Planning Award from the Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association. The organization named the city’s plan recipient of the award at its annual conference Friday, Nov. 4.
Spearheaded by Freese & Nichols, a Texas-based engineering, planning, architectural and project management firm, the city’s plan integrates market analysis, economic development framework, infrastructure assessment, a capital improvement plan and urban design all into one document.
