Support area museums at the Inaugural “Museum Madness Weekend,” Oct. 22-24. The Art Museum of Southeast Texas, Beaumont Children’s Museum, John Jay French Museum, Edison Museum, Dishman Art Museum, McFaddin-Ward House Museum, Museum of the Gulf Coast, Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum, and Texas Energy Museum are each hosting events for a fun-filled weekend in Jefferson County.

To give the community a full weekend of things to do, museum directors joined forces to build on the already popular “Dino Day” with the Texas Energy Museum, “Family Arts Day: Eat a Bug” at the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, and the “Pumpkin Walk” at the John Jay French Museum.

“We wanted to provide a full weekend of things to do for the community,” stated Beaumont Children’s Museum Executive Director Amanda Yarbrough. “All of the museums are working on initiatives and events for our community to enjoy and we just wanted to plan a weekend where it could be non-stop “museum madness.”

The weekend starts off with “Spindletop Spookfest and Movie Night” at the Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum, and guided tours of “A Walk with the Stars” at the Museum of the Gulf Coast on Friday, Oct. 22.

On Saturday in downtown Beaumont, the Edison Museum will be hosting the “Ghost Phone Photographic Exhibit.” The Beaumont Children’s Museum is celebrating “National Chemistry Day” with the TAMU Chemistry Road Show, and the Texas Energy Museum and Art Museum of Southeast Texas are holding their annual “Dino Day” and “Family Arts Day: Eat a Bug” respectively.

The McFaddin-Ward House Museum will open their grounds for a “Picnic on the Lawn” and the Beaumont Heritage Society is hosting their annual “Pumpkin Walk” at the John Jay French Museum. The Museum of the Gulf Coast will also be offering additional guided tours of “A Walk with the Stars,” rounding out the events for Saturday, Oct. 23.

The Dishman Art Museum is ending the weekend with the exhibition, “Julie Speed: East of the Sun and West of the Moon,” and the Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum is hosting “Open Mic Night” on Sunday, Oct. 24.

“It is going to be an amazing weekend that the whole community will be able to enjoy,” said Beaumont CVB Marketing Director Christina Lokey. “Part of our job at the CVB is working with area museums and attractions to spread the good word of everything they have to offer. We think that this is going to be a fantastic weekend that can drive in out-of-town visitors, as well as give residents a packed weekend of things to do.”

The Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau secured the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Beaumont Northwest Parkdale Mall as the host hotel for out-of-town visitors to enjoy the event.
