Savage completes purchase of Settoon Towing’s liquid bulk assets

Savage Inland Marine, LLC, a subsidiary of Savage Companies, announced Thursday, April 6, that the company has purchased the Liquid Bulk division assets of Settoon Towing LLC.

The purchase includes 35 towboats and 63 liquid tank barges with a total capacity of nearly 2 million barrels. The purchase does not include Settoon’s Gathering and Storage business line. The acquisition provides Savage with a scalable platform for building its marine business going forward, the company announced in a release.

Family reunions benefit Southeast Texas economy

Family reunions do more than just bring people together that haven’t seen each other in years or may have never even met. They also benefit the economy.

According to Freddie Willard, director of Sales at the Beaumont Convention and Visitors Bureau, in 2015 there were 15 family reunions that had an economic impact of $1,137,263. In 2016, Beaumont saw 19 family reunions that had an economic impact of $1,282,244. These numbers includes money spent on hotels, food and entertainment, Willard said.
