Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Volunteer Awards

The Beaumont Chamber of Commerce held its 2015 Volunteer and Member Recognition Luncheon on Thursday, May 14, at the Holiday Inn Beaumont Plaza. The Business Journal was presenting sponsor of the event.

Many long-standing Chamber members were recognized, including some for more than a century of membership. Among those recognized for 112 years of membership included Claybar Kelly Watkins Funeral Home, ExxonMobil Refinery, Conn’s Inc., Centerpoint Energy, and Capital One Bank.

Boulder, Colorado-based Grasshaven Outdoor sells canvas tepees, durable dinnerware and patterned picnic coolers — accessories for glamorous camping, or “glamping,” as founder Dawn Bitz calls it. Since she quit her corporate job to start the company in 2012, Bitz has been called the “Martha Stewart of camping” and the “camping style diva.” She got the idea for the business when she was planning a camping trip with her husband and kids but couldn’t find gear that was both stylish and functional.
