LSCPA Athletics receives grant from Foundation for Southeast Texas

Lamar State College Port Arthur athletics took another step closer to its goals of creating a first-class college softball complex after receiving a $2,000 grant from the Foundation for Southeast Texas.
The college, which participates in NJCAA Division I softball, won the competitive grant from the Foundation and was presented with a check during a recent ceremony.
According to LSCPA Director of Athletics Scott Street, the funds will go to the construction of a concession stand at Martin Field on Lakeshore Drive, home of the Seahawks softball team.

Silsbee Early College High School students visit LIT

Silsbee Early College High School Summer Bridge program students visited LIT on June 26 to learn about the importance of choices in high school and the impact of those choices on future career and educational goals. Ken Lamartiniere, coordinator of Dual Enrollment and Grant Development, provided information on the different outcomes available for students enrolled in early college high school, including 42 college semester credit hours, attainment of an associate degree, and how up to 60 semester credit hours can be applied toward a bachelor’s degree.
