New businesses opening in Vidor

Midland General Contractors is finishing up construction on a new urgent care center that will be located in the old Church’s chicken location in Vidor. The 3,500 square-foot, $800,000 project, BestMed Urgent Care is slated to open on Thursday, Sept. 13, according to Director of Operations Scott Haggard. “We offer a wide range of services from treating common colds or infections, suturing open wounds, basic on site lab, and X-Rays to name a few. We also offer hormone therapy with BioTe. We are a walk-in clinic, meaning no appointment is needed to be seen the same day.  Most of our patients are in and out of the facility within 30 minutes to an hour.”

Cajun Works: The Real Cajun Deal will be opening inside the recently opened “super” Walmart in Vidor, according to Tiffany Wilson, director of Communications for Walmart. The construction cost for the 1,200-square-foot restaurant is around $20,000 and the contractor for the project is ABM Enterprises Inc., according to the City of Vidor.

Toby Kimball, founder and president of Cajun Works, said the target date for opening the new business is within the next two months. From Cajun favorites like gumbo and ettouffee, to boudin balls and cracklins, Kimball promises “a taste of classic recipes straight from the heart of the swamp.”
