Market Basket golf tourney raises $10K

Market Basket’s Annual Lamar Endowment Golf Tournament, held Tuesday, April 24 at Country Club of Texas, raised another $10,000 for Lamar University.
This is the sixth consecutive year that the tournament has raised $10,000 for LU, with the money being donated to the Athletic Department.
Skylar Thompson, president of Market Basket, said, “This is something we take pride in being able to do, and it is far more than just Market Basket making this possible. We have vendor partners from Texas and Louisiana that participate with us in raising the money that is donated.”
Market Basket hosts two golf tournaments a year, with the money going to higher education. The spring tournament, held in Southeast Texas raises money for Lamar University, and the fall tournament, held in Lake Charles at Gray Plantation raises money for McNeese State University. The two tournaments combined have raised over $100,000.
Thompson stated, “It is always good to be able to spend time with our vendors, have fun playing on great golf courses and raise a lot of money for two great schools.”
