Amacate Tortilla Bar to open soon

A.J. Design & Construction is working on an $85,000 remodel of the old White Horse Bar & Grill at 7150 Eastex Freeway in Beaumont.

The newly remodeled, 3,700 square-foot restaurant will open in April as the Amacate Tortilla Bar, said Jon Hutcherson, operations director for Del Rio Properties LLC, owners of the restaurant.

“We are fast-casual, authentic tacos and enchiladas. You’ll go through the line and then we’ll bring your food to you within five minutes,” said Hutcherson, who added that Amacate in Spanish means, “love of avocado.”

“All your plates will come with rice, beans and homemade guacamole,” he added.

The restaurant will have around 20 different tacos, including lobster tacos and other choices you might not find at other restaurants.

Amacate will also utilize the Vuze Table Location System.

According to Vuze’s website, “When guests place an order, they receive a guest tag from the cashier that immediately begins to track their location and order time.

“Vuze uses active RFID technology that assures accurate table tracking so guests are free to sit anywhere in the restaurant. There’s no need to place the guest tag directly on a table. Vuze tracks exactly where customers are, whether seated or on the move. Crew members can then deliver each order as soon as it is ready by finding guests’ location using the simple-to-follow Vuze display map. When an order is delivered, tags are returned to the front counter to be deactivated and order-time tracking is concluded.”

The restaurant, which is divided into two sections, will feature a full bar with about 10 different frozen margaritas and 10 different margaritas.

“We have a vast variety of tequilas as well,” Hutcherson said.

While one side of the old White Horse Bar & Grill will be Amacate Tortilla Bar, the other side will be the White Horse Patio Bar, Hutcherson said.

“We’re building a 40-(foot) by 40-(foot) covered patio,” he said. “We’ll have 18 craft beers and 24 beers altogether. We’ll do sliders and tacos over there.”

The White Horse Patio Bar will also feature 10 margaritas as well.

Hutcherson said the patio bar, which is expected to be complete June 1, will feature live music on the weekends.
